The Archdiocese of St. Louis' website has current news and events concerning our own archdiocese. These is also information to assist in finding Mass & Reconciliation times throughout the archdiocese, vocation information, etc.

Suicide Prevention Resources

Parents & teens, please explore these resources as a means of obtaining help for you or someone you know and/or continuing the dialogue surrounding suicide. This is by no means an exhaustive list. 

Also remember to reach out to a trusted adult (i.e. parent, teacher, coach, counselor, youth minister, priest, etc)  who can advocate for you in a time of need, whether it be dealing with thoughts of suicide, depression, anxiety, or any other issue. 

The Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) raises awareness, funds scientific research and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide.

Some resources concerning the Catholic Church's teaching on suicide.

Fr. Mike from Ascension Presents explains why hope is the best remedy for suicidal thoughts. If you know someone struggling with such thoughts, don’t hesitate to reach out to them with reasons to have hope. If someone you know or love has committed suicide, pray for them and don’t lose hope for their soul.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains the teachings of the Catholic Church. Paragraph #2280-2283 explain the Church's teaching on suicide. 

"By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives." (CCC #2283)
